Free Self Hypnosis: Not as Strange as You Think

Has the idea of self hypnosis ever appealed to you? There are many different reasons for trying out self hypnosis. It could be a weight problem, an unwanted smoking habit, the hope for a better memory or a stronger mind and physique, and maybe just a general wish for better attunement with one's self. If you're interested in help with free self hypnosis, you won't have to look far. In fact, you've probably already been under self hypnosis without even knowing it. Believe it: you've brought yourself into a subconscious state of mind without noticing any difference. It can happen while driving to work, during a phone conversation, in the middle of a television show, or possibly when you were trying to listen to a boss or a colleague tell you some information vital to your job. It can be considered daydreaming, but that's the point: it's self hypnosis.

What Goes On in your Mind?

Did you ever notice how your mind can wander when driving down a highway late at night? You probably stopped thinking about driving a long time ago. When your state of self hypnosis was broken, you realized you were miles past a landmark or important cross street. This simple process is common when your mind is operating without a conscious effort. It could be driving home from work, for example, an everyday occurrence, or watching a favorite film, when you know the lines before they are even spoken. Of course it's very common with music. This event is free self hypnosis. There was no teacher hired, no books taken out of the library, no class to attend. You were practicing free self hypnosis on your own. Now that you know what was happening. the trick is to recreate that subconscious state when you want to do it on purpose.

Getting into the Comfort Zone

Now that you've recognized when and how you were practicing free self hypnosis, the idea is to manipulate your concentration in order to make this a rewarding process in your life. There is no need to drive to familiar places so you won't have to think about turns. Free self hypnosis is finding that state of totally relaxed, semi-conscious concentration whenever you need to. Put on some familiar, satisfying music or get involved in an activity at home that brings your mind out of the ordinary.

When you have once again entered the state of free self hypnosis, try to recall all of the plans you had for when your mind was clear. Be it dropping an ugly habit like smoking, cutting back on sweets or alcohol or making your life move forward, it is the time to focus.
